Van life in Encinitas is like finding yourself in an old surf movie. It represents a laid-back hippie lifestyle that sparked some of the first campervans ever built. For van lifers, a visit to Swami’s Beach is an absolute must. Known worldwide for its fantastic surf, this iconic beach is also ideal for sunbathing, tide pool exploring, or simply relaxing with a book. Don’t forget to hit the famous Swamis Cafe after enjoying a siesta in your van conversion.

Downtown Encinitas, located only 30 minutes from downtown San Diego, has a diverse mix of restaurants and craft breweries and is worth visiting if you’re driving by in your camper van. Parking is relatively easy in Encinitas and neighboring Carlsbad - as are most cities in San Diego.

Unfortunately it’s hard to camp overnight in your van conversion in Encinitas but if you look a little more toward inland San Diego you should be able to find an overnight spot. Be careful wherever you choose so you don’t get any tickets.
